Sensitivity and Specificity of the HIV Risk Assessment Tool Used by PEPFAR Partners in Edo, Bayelsa and Lagos States, Nigeria

INTRODUCTION: Although HIV testing is a critical screening and entry point for accessing treatment, programs worldwide are strained by limited resources which require practical cost-effective strategy clients. Screening tools becoming increasingly common given their presumed advantage of efficiency cost-effectiveness in predicting prioritizing clients who most at risk positive.
 
 METHOD: This study assessed Risk Assessment Tool (RAT) used PEPFAR partners Edo, Bayelsa, Lagos states Nigeria to determine the tool’s sensitivity specificity identifying positivity. The assessment purposively selected 20 convenient health facilities. A penalized logistic regression model was also identify specific questions that predict True Positive.
 RESULT & CONCLUSION: results indicate RAT 3 had poor accuracy, with only 54%, meaning correctly identified 54% people have but failed 46% HIV. RAT’s (77%) indicated it 77% do not HIV, erroneously 23% as having when they did not. demonstrated reported unprotected sex previous 6 months accounted 51% those tested positive Likewise, vaginal or urethral discharge 11%, while tuberculosis diagnosis symptoms 8% These three yielded highest predictive values were likely test positive.
